Tai Chi for Beginners

This course is not eligible for CNPS credit

Instructor:   Holli Adams is a seasoned Tai Chi Chuan Instructor with a background in professional dance from ages 5 to 35. In mid career Holli started a serious practice of Tai Chi to nourish and enliven her body for the demands of dance. Two years later Holli’s dance career was cut short by a head-on collision, but the timing was perfect. She credits Tai Chi Chuan for bringing her body, and spirit, back into balance, increasing vitality that produced a close to full recovery.

Class Description: Tai Chi Chuan is considered an internal Martial Art, but uses the subtlety of the body to achieve strength, balance and nourishment. Tai Chi gathers energy in the body rather than expelling it to fight. It's poetic translation is Supreme Ultimate Fist showing the ancient Chinese reverence for gentleness that reinforces power. The movements gently push lymph, blood and life force or Chi/Qi to stimulate the mind and calm body. Tai Chi Chaun is considered the exercise portion of Chinese Medicine. Generally people over 40 learn and practice Tai Chi, but younger bodies also benefit, too.
