Class Dates: This class meets in person three times on the following dates:
Get to know the trees of the Piedmont on a first name basis in this hands-on course. Using careful observation, keys, and sketching, we'll zoom in on features like twigs, leaves, buds, fruits/cones, and bark to identify 25 or more species. With information on their natural histories and economic uses, these majestic native plants will step forward from the forest and landscape and become lifelong friends.
Note: This class is intense and requires heavy active participation. Dress for being outside. Pack a lunch for class Sunday.
*Basic Botany is recommended before taking any ID courses, but currently not required.
Location: UNC Charlotte Main Campus - McMillan Greenhouse
Cost: $149.00 - This price includes a hand lens and tree ID book. You will receive both on the first day of class.
Parking: During the week you must park in our visitor decks. Park in East Deck #1. Parking is free on the weekends - we still recommend parking in East Deck #1. If you park in an open lot through the week you will receive a fine of $85 from the university. We do have very limited free parking spots in front of the Greenhouse, but those fill up quickly.
