Landscape design is a unique medium, a four-dimensional canvas, where art and living nature exist in a constant state of flux. Tailored for both novice gardeners and professionals looking to refine their approach, this introductory short course provides a clear, accessible framework for organizing the home ornamental garden.

Whether you are starting from scratch on a new property or reimagining an existing outdoor space, this session bridges the gap between creative vision and practical reality. You will learn how to approach residential landscapes systematically, ensuring your outdoor spaces are as visually balanced as they are environmentally sound. The session concludes with a guided walking tour of the UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens demonstration spaces. See applied design principles in real time and discover a variety of exceptional native plants well-suited for the home landscape.
